The Cavern Today is a fan-run organization which produces a podcast (also named The Cavern Today), and previously produced a newsletter (The Archiver) and a real-time news podcast (TCT Extra) about Uru Live. It is not to be confused with Uru Obsession's Cavern Today forum, which was launched in 2003.

It was launched as the flagship of the Cavern Communications Network in August 2005 on the community-run Untìl Uru shard Tapestry. Since its inception it has split from the Cavern Communications Network group and has developed its own projects.

Slogan[edit | edit source]

Initially the slogan "Around the World and Across the Shards" was adopted by the founders, but after the announcement of the return of Uru Live it was modified to "Around the World and Across the Ages, This is The Cavern Today, an Uru Live fan presentation". Later, this was simplified to "Around the World and Across the Ages, This is The Cavern Today" once the podcast's scope expanded to the larger Myst fan community.

Guests on the show[edit | edit source]

The Cavern Today has maintained an active relationship with Uru Live developers Cyan (and their then publishers GameTap) since late 2005. Cyantist guests have included: Rand Miller (CEO of Cyan), Ryan Miller, Grey Dragon, Tim Larkin, Richard "RAWA" Watson, Chogon, Josh Staub and Robyn Miller. Gametap Guests included Eric Largé, Randomos, and Trent Hershenson. Community guests have included Zrax, GreyPiffle, Reverend Vader, Kato, Patrick Dulebohn and Tweek.

Other Productions[edit | edit source]

There were two other productions from The Cavern Today staff: the first was The Archiver, a monthly newsletter covering events and goings-on in the Cavern as well as providing helpful information to new explorers.

In April of 2007 The Archiver was joined by The Cavern Today Extra. TCT Extra was a way for information to get out to the Cavern in a much more timely manner than the podcast was capable of. When news happened in the Cavern it was added to the feeds and sent out as soon as possible.
