Firds ("fish-birds") are a species of fish native of Ahnonay, primarily living in the cascade outside the sphere machine.[1][2]

Like flying fish on Earth, firds have sail-like fins that allow them to ride the air currents around the falls, so that they never fall to the bottom.

Like some species of catfish, they have a suction cup on their underside, which enable them to cling to rocks when they aren't sailing the falls in search of plankton and small insects.
