Vittorio ('Vito') Brunetti is a civilian doctor working with UN aid, whose expertise lies in the field of medical and psychological trauma arising from refugee resettlement.[1]
As soon as the authorities began considering evacuation from Earth through the linking books, Brunetti was vetted for security purposes. However, the departure of the team medic Daniel Lev was so sudden, that the UN had no time to brief Vittorio, who was redirected to New Mexico from what he thought was a posting to Turkey. He arrived in D'ni with only minimal understanding of the mission or the underground city; what knowledge he possessed he picked up through hastily read briefing papers and the information Lieutenant Larson shared with him when she escorted him down the Great Shaft.
