==Changes==
While the structure of the game remains the same as the original, a lot of details have been changed regarding the environment. Many objects, such as the tower rotation panel and paintings in the library, that were simply activated by touching them, now feature visible knobs and handles<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wyk1vZmuTQ|title=Dev Talk: Rand Miller and Eric A. [[Book#Linking_Book|Linking Books]] that did not behave according to lore established after the release of the original version of Myst, such as the Book to [[Selenitic]] in the rocket and the Book to Myst in [[Stoneship]], have been replaced with standard Linking Books.

The art direction of most Ages has also been changed. Myst is now lit by a sunset and surrounded by fog. The sun in Stoneship is setting and is much larger than the original. Selenitic is the Age that is the most visually different from the original version. It has a dark blue atmosphere, with more fog and many shooting stars are observable with the naked eye.

Changes have also been made to accommodate VR users. Swinging doors have been replaced with sliding doors, the fireplace has been enlarged in order to enter it while standing, and interactive items that were at ground level have been raised to waist level.

Another notable change is the original live-action videos have been replaced with 3D characters. A later patch added the option to switch back to the original videos<ref name="Myst Patch 1.8.0"/>, although the parts when the characters are seen in-person, and not through a linking panel, still feature the 3D models.

Some features of previous remakes ([[realMyst]] and [[realMyst: Masterpiece Edition]]) are missing from this version:
* The Ages no longer have a day/night cycle
* The Age of [[Rime]] is not present in this version
