==November 1, 2002 - Victor Laxman== He’s made a big move. Did you see the email address? He’s sending a message, and it’s none too subtle. We talked about this back in early September and now it’s happening. This removes all doubts about his agenda. But how are we supposed to deal with this? v ==November 1, 2002 - Marie Sutherland== I really do not know, Vic. We have started our preparations for an inflow of people, but we are nowhere near ready. It will be months before all of our preparations will be complete. If too many people start showing up now, it will create a domino effect and could literally set our restoration efforts back years. Any suggestions on what we can do? Marie ==November 1, 2002 - Dr. Watson== I don’t have any suggestions at the moment. I’m just glad Kodama’s on vacation. I think that vein in his neck would pop if he saw what’s going on today. I have to agree, though. This is not good. It is much too soon. I have many concerns about people starting to come down now. 1) There’s not enough approved space to hold them. 2) The more people that are down here, the more distractions we will have keeping us from the restoration. This is the start of nasty spiral of needing to get more and more done with less and less time. As for his choice of names, “Uru” is obviously appropriate. It’s definitely what Eli would have used. Dr. Watson ==November 1, 2002 - Victor Laxman== Just had a thought. Maybe we shouldn’t worry too much. I’m just not sure how he thinks he’s going to get people here. Dr. Watson, do you think he’s even thought of the logistics, or is he just flying by the seat of his pants? Sure, his dad gave him the land, but is he expecting people to just show up in the middle of nowhere? And then what? Walk? Maybe he’s not as ready as he thinks he is. v ==November 1, 2002 - Dr. Watson==
Victor Laxman wrote:
Dr. Watson, do you think he’s even thought of the logistics, or is he just flying by the seat of his pants?
I don’t believe he’s flying by the seat of his pants. He is very passionate (it’s in his blood) so he may be just a bit over-eager. It’s possible that he’s gotten ahead of himself on this one and won’t be able to pull it off. For the restoration’s sake, I certainly hope so. Also, I agree with Michael on turning our focus back on the neighborhoods. “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst,” as they say. Dr. Watson ==November 1, 2002 - Michael Engberg== One coincidence works in our favor though: Now that the Nexus has been approved, we can return our focus to the residential districts. Just off the top of my head, there must have been around 50 Neighborhoods that we estimated could be secured with minimal effort during our preliminary surveys. I don’t imagine their status has changed much in the last year, and at least we’d have a place to direct people in the event that he is as ready as he thinks he is. ==November 1, 2002 - Victor Laxman== Mark has dissected the features of the maintainer age management in the KI. With a few changes (mostly language stuff) we can use it for neighborhood management instead. We’ll put that on the fast track. Even though I have my doubts that Zandi can pull this off. v ==November 18, 2002 - Victor Laxman== Okay, neighborhood access management is working well on the KI. It’s a very nice tool for monitoring who is where, as well as providing a bit of security. All of which will be extremely useful as the number of explorers increases. Which may happen sooner rather than later. Looks like he’s started selecting people for his “uru”. v
