Geran was a Guild Master in the Guild of Surveyors. He was one of the leaders of the tunnel expedition to the surface of Earth, responsible for operating the sounding capsule to plot their path through the rock.
Master Geran was blind, and elderly by the time he joined the expedition to the surface, but still possessed an immense talent for determining the nature of rock through sound and vibration alone. He could even determine who was near him without hearing their voice. Guild Master Telanis often acceded to Geran's counsel and advice on the expedition.
When earthquakes struck the Great Shaft shortly before its completion, Geran was thrown off balance while near the edge of the top of the Shaft and fell to his death.
