Linking Chamber[edit | edit source]

Locked Book[edit | edit source]

[Yeesha (voice-over)]
Dad told me you never wanted to learn D'ni when you were little. That's why he never taught you.

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
I guess I didn't back then. I was having too much fun learning other stuff. I was pretty stupid back then.

[Yeesha (voice-over)]
Here. Maybe you should try learning now with me.

[Audio] Sound of gift basket hinging.

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Really? You'll teach me D'ni?

[Yeesha (voice-over)]
Why not? Somebody should.

Damaged Roof[edit | edit source]

[The Linking Chamber appears intact. One of Sirrus's bombs is heard as the memory fades to black.]

Elevator handle, after traveling from Sirrus's bomb factory[edit | edit source]

[Replays ride from bomb factory.]

Top level[edit | edit source]

Family statues[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Come on. You must have seen it a million times growing up. What was it like? Father was writing, Mother was… left of him. Who had the boat? I had the boat. Yes, yes, I had the boat!

Campfire[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus is sitting, obviously very cold, covered with a blanket.]

[Sirrus]
I thought I was the only devious one in our family. But this? Oh, this is classic. No Book, Father? No Linking Book home?! Think Sirrus. Think.

Meter for pentagonal windpipe[edit | edit source]

[The pipe is the same, except without the huge crystal and meter and emitting an odd whistling sound.]

Windpipe by meter[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Double past… through both loops… beautiful knot… Let's just hope the Linking Book is down there!

Docking station[edit | edit source]

Generator[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Okay. No slip-ups this time. I really do not want to lose another ship.

[Audio]
A switch clicks, and there is the sound of an activating generator.

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Garden magnet is on. Docking station conductors are charged and ready. Here it goes.

[Audio]
The zap of circuit grounding.

Energy panel[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Looks like those circuit lessons you drilled into me in Voltaic have finally paid off, Father! Of course, figuring out how to complete this electrical network was 10 times more difficult, seeing how I had to build everything from scratch.

View of Nearest Palace[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Yes! I knew it would work! I knew there was enough static electricity out there to be gathered by my conductors! Ha, ha! Now to stop wasting it in a useless display of light and actually channel it somewhere...

Lab[edit | edit source]

Small chained floating rock[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Impossible. Every scientific principle says that these rocks shouldn't be floating... and yet somehow, they are! Don't know how you did it, Father, but if you can Write it, I can certainly use it.

View of Nearest Palace from telescope[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Has to be fake. Has to be. But will getting to it allow me to finally reach the ground? Have to know. Have to get over there!

Prototype generator, electromagnet, and conductor[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Remarkable. No change of molecular structure, no build-up of illumination inside, As long as the crystal remains grounded, electricity just passes straight through it. Interesting.

Garden[edit | edit source]

Statue of Yeesha with Tomahna flower[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Your faith in me is truly amazing, Mother! (laughs) How long before I kill this one?

Generator[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Idiot! You've run these calculations a million times! Counterbalance the magnetic forces perfectly, otherwise the ship won't get out of the dock! And you do want to get out of the dock, don't you? After all these years of trying?!

Chess set[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
What kind of a move is that?! You had me, Father. You totally had me! And now you're leaving your queen wide open? Getting the nara chess pieces out of you was more of a challange than this.

Damaged hexagonal windpipe[edit | edit source]

[The windpipe is the same, except it is not damaged and the meter is still on. A stone wall is in the back where it isn't now.]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Commencing rock test number 29. Yes, this should be it. This should be the one.

[Audio]
There is a click, then beeping in a 4-second countdown. One of Sirrus's bombs going off, followed by the sound of explosions and tumbling rocks.

Nearest Palace[edit | edit source]

Windpipe[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus is holding on to the rope before using it to climb down to the lower level.]

[Sirrus]
At last… after all these years… FREEDOM!

Telescope[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus climbs down the rope to see that there is no ground at all to get to.]

[Sirrus]
NO!!!

[Sirrus wanders on the tiny balcony of the Nearest Palace.]

[Sirrus]
(Shouting) I... am... Sirrus. And I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED!!

Energy panel[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Heck of a lot of electricity being gathered out there, And as soon as I finish wiring this circuit, it'll go straight through to the throne to where I need it the most. Can you hear the music yet, Father? (laughs)

Generator[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Have to do it. Have to set up the network correctly so that enough power flows into the throne. It's the only way to reach the right frequency.

Lower level[edit | edit source]

Statue of Atrus and Catherine, as seen from the throne[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Not long now, Father. Not long before I show you what a (in high-pitched voice) smart little girl (in regular voice) can do!

Spare gears and tools[edit | edit source]

[Audio]
The sound of a horribly untuned organ screeches out.

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
AUGGGH!

[The noise stops]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
GOD! No wonder I can't get the right frequency! When they slip out of tune, these cables sound worse than Mother's caterwauling!

Bomb factory[edit | edit source]

Left bomb tank (10-5-5)[edit | edit source]

[A bomb slides down the tube, into the left container. Vegetable coating pours onto it, and from there, it is pushed into the small iron holder.]

Right bomb tank (12-12-12)[edit | edit source]

[A bomb slides down the tube, into the right container. Vegetable coating pours onto it, and from there, it is pushed into the small iron holder.]

Sample Bomb[edit | edit source]

[Sirrus (voice-over)]
Interesting problem. The inner matrix wants to hold on electrical buildup indefinitely, but loses it as soon as the crystal touches a grounded object. So… how to keep the crystals isolated until I can use them?
