Q: In seems that the D'ni put all their dead in one big smelly age, but in the place they link to wouldn't there just be a huge pile of bodies?

A: The morgue Age is continually cleaned. The linked bodies are buried quickly by caretakers on the Age, they aren't left to pile up.

Q: Was being a caretaker on a Burial Age like being sent to Siberia or a lone arctic outpost when you got on the wrong side of your Guild Master, or was there a minor Guild of Morticians or a Loyal Order of Caretakers who prided themselves in their work?

A: Definitely a minor Guild who specialized in taking care of burial of the deceased.
