''Words'' was well-received by the D'ni when it was published, and retained a sizable following all the way up to D'ni's destruction in 9400 DE. King [[Jaron]] attempted to fulfill the prophecy that "because of tunnels, D'ni has changed forever" by undertaking a large-scale expansion effort throughout the D'ni [[cavern]]. It is likely that the work remained popular because of its perceived accuracy in predicting future events – though like all prophecies, its accuracy is a matter of personal interpretation.
