== Image Uploading Broken ==

Apologies if this is the wrong place to bring this up, but I couldn't find anywhere more suitable. (The image uploader doesn't have a talk page, and I couldn't find anything that looked like a 'report a bug' page.)
After having been a visitor to this wiki for a while, I finally decided to join yesterday to be able to contribute properly. One of the things I was hoping to contribute was some images for articles that are currently in need of them, but unfortunately when I tried to upload one yesterday I found the uploader wouldn't work, and provided me with the following error message:
<blockquote>
Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/2/2b/KI-Dispenser.png". Make sure your upload directory is configured correctly and your web server has permission to write to that directory. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Manual:$wgUploadDirectory for more information.
</blockquote>
At first I contacted [[User:Korovev|Korovev]] on Reddit as I'd come across them on Reddit before and noticed they are active here on the wiki. They confirmed that it wasn't just me and that the image uploader has been broken for quite a while.
Do you have any idea what the issue might be or how it might be resolved?
