Sedona was a very old Age, discovered by Atrus and his team during the First Restoration of D'ni in the late 9460s DE. Because of how old it was, Atrus chose to send a scout to it using a heavy-duty maintainer suit originally developed by the Guild of Maintainers. However, despite this precaution, the scouting expedition nearly claimed the life of Gavas, the Averonese team member who volunteered to wear the suit. The Age had been neglected for some time before the fall of D'ni, and the planet's star had gone nova, engulfing Age in a stellar cataclysm.
