While found in the Forest region of Edanna, the venus flytrap is not indigenous to the Age. It was grown by Saavedro as one of the complications he used in an effort to slow Atrus's progress through the lesson Ages of J'nanin. It is a carnivorous plant, capable of holding a full-grown person (or red-breasted grossamery) in its pouch.
While a number of people have observed that this plant is more similar to one of Earth's pitcher plants than a venus flytrap, the plant's official designation by all accompanying literature identifies it as such flytrap.
