December 29, 2003 - Dr. Kodama[edit | edit source]
It has been far too long since we at the DRC have taken the time to inform our visitors of restoration progress, both past, present, and future. After lengthy meetings between Victor Laxman and Dr. Kodama we will attempt to do that.
1. First and foremost, is the status of Phil Henderson. While every attempt is being made to remove debris from the area where Phil was last seen, the task is proving more difficult than first suspected. Much work has been accomplished but much remains. We have found no sign of Phil and though the evidence may suggest otherwise, we will continue to retain hope that he is alive. Our teams are working extremely hard on this effort and we will continue to bring you updates.
2. Dr. Watson has returned to the surface for an undetermined amount of time. While he is gone, Victor Laxman and Dr. Kodama will take over daily operations of the Council. As a result, cavern access will be opened to the pre-accident level as quickly as possible. Both Laxman and Kodama are adamant about providing access to more areas of the city and fully plan on a much quicker implementation of cavern openings. We understand your frustrations.
3. While it will be nice to return to pre-accident levels, we also understand that new areas are needed. As a result, we are planning on opening the Great Zero ahead of schedule, though not completely finished. Barring mishap, the area will be opened next week. At the same time higher priority will be assigned to multiple other new cavern areas. We will also be posting Age and City status of ALL areas that have been or are currently undergoing DRC restoration. Though this “list” will be rather raw at first, we will be adding content to it on a daily basis. Dr. Kodama has long pushed for this information to be released and we see no better time than now to do so.
4. In an effort to better provide information regarding the restoration effort, the DRC will be starting a bi-weekly newsletter in the coming weeks. Sign-ups will be available on the DRC Site. Though it will become increasingly difficult for us to communicate with all visitors personally, we hope these newsletters will prove sufficient for understanding what the DRC is doing and where future openings are occurring.
5. Though very early, Kodama and Laxman have discussed DRC certification for neighborhoods. The number of neighborhoods has grown immensely and in an effort to better use the alloted space and encourage tighter communities, we will be releasing a number of guidelines that will be required for DRC Certification. In the future such certification will provide voting benefits, plaques, etc… early certified neighborhoods will receive private rooms, forum space, etc… Look for more information in the coming weeks.
6. Douglas Sharper: The Explorer’s Pub has been taken from Douglas Sharper for recent activities that were not deemed beneficial to the restoration effort, While Sharper is still considered a valuable individual to this community, we will not tolerate such behavior in any manner now, or in the future.
In conclusion, we thank you for the time and patience you have shown. We understand that the last couple of weeks have been confusing and frustrating in many ways. We hope you bear with us as we try to build a better organization, a better communication channel between you and us, and a brighter hope for the future of D’ni. It is a bright future and one we hope you will be able to see very soon.
Sincerely,
The DRC
