This plant mostly dwells in the South Jungle and tall grasses of Haven. When touched, it coils up and "rattles" (hence its name), releasing a green cloud of poisonous gas, which only lasts a few seconds. This poison only causes brief nausea among humans (we know this because the Stranger inhaled some of it on his search for Yeesha), but makes camoudiles severely ill.
The jars containing green fluid in the Shipwreck and the Amulet Memory attached to one of the plants suggests that Achenar extracted poison from these plants and used it to poison his spears.
