Rivenese was the native language of the Rivenese people before Gehn's arrival on Riven. Gehn attempted to impose the D'ni language, but Rivenese persisted nevertheless, especially among the Moiety.
Allapo meant "water pool" and allatwan meant "pool of stars". Both terms were used to refer to Temple Island, the villagers using the former and the Moiety using the latter.
A few word definitions were released for Lexember in 2022 and 2023.
This paragraph is written from an OOC point-of-view. Events and elements in the D'ni Universe are regarded as fictional. |
A dialect of New Guinea[1] was used to represent Rivenese in the game Riven. Although its identity has never been officially stated, the language in the game bears a strong resemblance[2] to Folopa.
