The Guild of Surveyors was one of the 18 Major Guilds on the Guild Council at the fall of D'ni. They were responsible for exploring areas for new mining sites, as well as the surveying of new caverns for the expanding D'ni population and overseeing their construction. The guild was also charged with leading the excavation of the path from D'ni to the Surface. The Guild of Surveyors emblem is one of the few to be confirmed by the DRC.

There is a fine difference between this Guild and the Guild of Miners. In human enterprises, miners typically do the digging and the excavating and the tunneling. In D'ni, the Surveyors were responsible for actually opening up the mines, while the Miners were responsible for running those mines after they were open.

The Age of Minkata contained a massive orienteering course that the guild used for training new members, indicating that their duties also extended to exploring other Ages as well.
