The Returned—nicknamed "Champ" by Colonel Collins—can be distinguished from other bahro by his bright orange eyes. Because of his unusual personal history he never developed the ability to fully communicate telepathically with humans: at best he is capable of visual transmission.[1]
The Returned sided with the rebel bahro during the Great Schism, up until the battle where the rebel forces slaughtered the previous Protector and the circle of elders. In spite of his inability to fully communicate with him, Champ has forged a friendship with Henry Culver. In Season Three, he will be assigned to the Cavern as liaison to the humans along with Second Attendant.
