This small, metal spike, capped with a glowing marker bearing the Guild of Maintainers' emblem, was driven into the ground in every Age approved by the Guild of Maintainers. Some of these Marks are easier to find than others, and some don't seem to exist at all in the areas to which we have been granted access by the DRC. While the Maintainer's Marks can be found in all of the Journey Ages and the two other Garden Ages without difficulty, there are no Maintainer's Marks visible in Er'cana, Ahnonay, Jalak, Minkata, or any of the Pod Age pods.
According to the DRC, each Mark acts as a sort of Mini-Zero for the KI Positioning System (KI-PS), with the angle of the radiant of the Zero aligned with the Age's magnetic north. As in D'ni, coordinates are set from this point, and will indicate changes in distance, angle from North, and elevation in the KI-PS. At this time, the KI-PS system is non-functional outside of D'ni.
